How to Wash a Dog Bed
The right washing method depends on the bed's construction, size and fill. A washable cover does not automatically mean the inner cushion or foam can go in the washing machine. Start with the care label on the item you own.
Identify the parts before washing
Find the model and size, then check whether the cover is designed to unzip and come off. Do not force a seam open or assume two sizes of the same bed have identical construction. On classic Majestic Pet bagel beds, removable covers are offered on the Large 40-inch and Extra Large 52-inch sizes; check the exact product for other styles and sizes.
| Construction | What to check |
|---|---|
| Removable cover | Remove the cover as instructed and follow its washing and drying label. Treat the insert separately. |
| Whole-bed washable style | Confirm that the complete bed is washable and that it fits your machine without crowding. Follow the model's care instructions. |
| Foam or memory foam insert | Do not assume it is machine washable because the outer cover is washable. Check the insert's instructions first. |
Prepare the bed
Remove loose hair and surface debris before laundering. Check seams and zippers and address damage before putting the item in a machine. Use the detergent, cycle and drying method specified for that product. For beds approved for whole-bed washing, check the instructions for an agitator-free machine and whether a commercial-size washer is needed.
Dry the correct way
Follow the label: air drying and tumble drying are not interchangeable. Let every washed component dry fully before reassembly. If a label is missing or unclear, contact us with the product name, size and a photo rather than guessing at heat settings or washing the fill.
Make routine cleaning easier
A spare compatible cover lets you rotate covers while one is being cleaned. A new insert may be a better solution when the fill is worn out but the cover is still in good condition. Match replacements to the exact style and size; a similarly named size is not a guarantee of fit.
